Funeral services for Duran Barts, 9, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barts of route
1, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), were conducted Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 1969
at Christ Lutheran Church at Abbotsford. The Rev. F.H. Sprengler, pastor,
officiated. Mrs. Eugene Strathman was the organist. Burial was made in Colby
Memorial Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Frank Schreiber, Terry German, James Podevels, Terry
Thieme, Douglas Lueth and Richard Lueth.
Polnaszek Funeral Home of Abbotsford was in charge of arrangements.
The youth died Saturday afternoon, October 25, 1969 of accidental strangulation.
His body was found by his father and a neighbor in a barn on the family farm.
Efforts to revive him failed. County authorities reported that the boy had tied
a piece of twin to a timber and then around his neck while playing. The
resulting death was ruled an accident.
He was born April 22, 1960 at Marshfield, and attended elementary school at
Owen-Withee.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one brother, Kevin, age 10; two
sisters, Susan, 7, and Tommy, 4; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armin Barts
of Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen of the town of Hull.
