Joan Theresa Schreiber, route 2, Athens, Wisconsin, and Robert Ross Knecht,
route 1, Unity, Wisconsin, were united in marriage on June 1, 1974 at 1:30 p.m.
at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Athens, by the Rev. Lenard Stashek.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roma J. Schreiber of route 2, Athens,
and the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland E. Knecht of route 1, Unity.
The maid of honor was Miss Marilyn Schreiber, Abbotsford, and the bridesmaids
were Miss Joie Poppe, Withee, Miss Mary Schreiber, Athens, Mrs. Galen Schreiber,
Athens, Mrs. Diane Schultz, Loyal, Miss Gale Wichlacz, Milan.
Kenny Knecht served as best man, and the groomsmen were Ricky Harder, Loyal,
Dave Pieper, Spencer, Arnold Krautkramer, Marathon, Galen Schreiber, and Gerald
Schreiber, both f Athens. Clyde Schreiber and Randy Lube performed ushering
duties.
The bride, escorted by her father, appeared in a gown of nylon organza over
taffeta, with mandarin lace. Her mantilla was floor length, and her bouquet was
red roses and white mums.
The bridesmaids were attired in rainbow dresses of flocked organza over taffeta.
Each carried a white rose with tinted edges to match their dress.
After the reception, dinner and dance were held at Dorchester Memorial Hall in
Dorchester, the newlyweds left on a honeymoon.
They will be making their home in Abbotsford.
The new Mrs. Knecht is a 1971 graduate of Abbotsford High School and works for
ILC Conroth in Spencer. Her husband completed Loyal High School in 1972 and is a
computer operator trainee for Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield.
