Zondlo, George John Jr. (14 JUN 1948 - 17 NOV 2018)
George John Zondlo Jr., age 70 of the Township of Rib Lake, passed away
Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side and
under the care of Hope Hospice.
George was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on Monday, June 14, 1948, the son of
George J. and Victoria A. (Padula) Zondlo Sr. The family lived in Rib Lake and
in 1966, George graduated from Rib Lake High School. Upon graduation, George
entered Barber School in Eau Claire where he graduated in 1967. He accepted a
job at Frank’s Barbershop in South Milwaukee where he was employed from 1967
until 1986.
He met his future wife Kristine C. Kollatz in Milwaukee and the couple was
united in marriage on September 27, 1975 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in
Muskego, Wisconsin. They lived in Muskego on Little Muskego Lake until 1986 when
the family moved to Rib Lake. George purchased the local barbershop changing the
name to George’s Barbershop. He has been the owner since 1986 and has been a
Barber for over fifty years. George would cut hair at the Rib Lake Health Care
Center and if someone needed their hair cut at home, he would go to them. He
received his Realtor license in 1988 and had been employed currently with Dixon
Greiner Realty.
George was a devout Catholic and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church
and had been on the Finance Committee for many years. He was a past member of
the Rib Lake School Board, a current member of the National Realtors
Association. George loved to hunt! This included bow, muzzle loading and rifle.
He enjoyed fishing, going for a ride, family trips out west, playing cribbage,
purchasing lottery tickets or trying to win the powerball. But most of all,
George loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife; Kris, daughters; Tracy Beckstrand
of Rib Lake, Shelly Zondlo of Naples, Florida and Lisa Zondlo of Lakewood,
Colorado, four grandchildren; Ryan, Derek, Brandon and Kaylee, seven brothers;
Joseph (Barb) of Green Bay, James (Dolores) Zondlo Sr. of Minneapolis,
Minnesota, John (JoAnn) Zondlo Sr. of Peoria, Arizona, Jerry (Jean) of Lino
Lakes, Minnesota, Jeff (Candy) of Marshfield, Eugene of San Diamas, California
and Dennis (Debbie) Zondlo of Rib Lake, one sister; Mary Rose (Bob) Gumz of
Dorchester, Wisconsin. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and other relatives and many
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; George John and Victoria Agnes Zondlo
Sr.
The visitation for George will be held on Tuesday evening, November 20, 2018
from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church located at 513
State Road 102, Rib Lake, Wisconsin. A second visitation will be held on
Wednesday morning, November 21, 2018 at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the
11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Otto Bucher will be officiating.
Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions in honor of George may be given to the family.
Pallbearers will be Bob Zondlo, Mark Zondlo, Jeff Gumz, John Zondlo Jr., Aaron
Zondlo, Michael Zondlo, Neal Zondlo and James Zondlo Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Aric Zondlo, Carl Zondlo, Todd Zondlo and James
Kotke.
