Shefchik, Charles (17 DEC 1895 – 2 AUG 1974)
Charles Shefchik, 78, 305 S. Main Street, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 8:25
p.m. August 2, 1974 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 5 at St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, with Father Chester Osowski officiating. Burial was in the Parish
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie and Elmer Shefchik, Robert Michalski, Robert Michalski
Jr., Richard Bennett, and Mike Martens.
The Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.
Charles Shefchik was born December 17, 1895 in Kewaunee County, and received his
education the Town of Beaver (Clark Co.) schools. He came to Loyal in 1905. In
1920 he started farming on the family with his brother, Emil. He farmed all his
life in Clark County, retiring in 1960, when he moved to the city of Loyal.
He was married on November 22, 1951 to Sophie Martens, who survives him.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
A PCCW rosary was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 8:45 Sunday
evening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step-sons, William Martens,
Marshfield; Richard Martens, R. 1, Loyal; Hilbert Martens, Junction City; Ted
Martens, West Allis, and Tim Martens, Milwaukee; six step-daughters, Mrs. Lee
Helen) Garbush, R. 2, Loyal; Mrs. Erland (Dorothy) Westberg, Prineville, Oregon;
Mrs. Robert (Jean) Michalski, Marshfield; Mrs. Emi (Della) Podobnik, Willard;
Mrs. Richard (Mable) Kruger, Silver City, New Mexico, and Mrs. Richard (Judy)
Bennett, Sussex, Wisconsin; two brothers, Emil Shefchik, Loyal, and Frank
Shefchik, Milwaukee, and one sister, Sister Leomitis, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
