Miss Debbie Craig, R.R. 1, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), will be attending a national agri-business conference – the American Institute of Cooperation Summer Institute at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, August 5 – 8, 1974.

She will be sponsored to this conference by the Production Credit Association of Neillsville.

More than 700 teenagers are gathering with 1,800 adults at this economic education conference – an annual event, now in its 46th years, to increase knowledge about cooperatives in the American competitive business system. The youth program is now in its 26th years. The program for young people is devoted to intensive study and discussion, along with time out for recreation. Debbie is one of 12 attending frofm Wisconsin.

The young people chosen to go to this conference have been selected from many thousands participating in many types of Pre-AIC activities. Those at the Kansas State University meeting already have a background in the basics of the business and economics environment in which cooperatives operate.

Their activities at the conference will include attending the adult session where national business, educational, and cooperatives leaders speak. They will also have 30 rap sessions that they chair and handle. One afternoon they will set up as mini-boards of directors to handle specific problem cases.

They will be taking part in auditions for a big talent show to be presented before the entire audience the last night of the Institute. They youth scholars also help elect their own Associate Trustees of the American Institute of Cooperation.
