Don Decker, owner and operator of Decker Plee-zing Foods on Greenwood's (Clark
Co., Wis.) North Main Street, announced last week he had purchased the Farmer
Store from The Farmer Store Company of Eau Claire.
Farmer Store Company has operated a store I Greenwood for many years, and has
been the only general merchandising store in this city. They also had a grocery
department.
Mr. Decker plans to operate his north side store, as well as his new store on
the south side.
The new store will be known as Decker's Farm and City Service Center. This ssote
will give more room for Don to operate a larger super market and he will also
have room in the building for two or three persons to go into business for
themselves in lines such as Dry Goods, Children's Clothing, etc.
Don Decker said, with the large store and better parking facilities, he feels he
can offer the people of the Greenwood and Willard areas a bigger selection of
groceries, as well as very good parking.
Plans at this time include to continue operating the north store.
From August 19 through September 19, a large stock reduction and remodeling will
be in progress.
Mr. Decker purchased the north side store in 1954 from his folks, who operated
it as The Greenwood Locker Plant. They were in business for five years before
selling it to Don, so the Decker Family has operated the business for 25 years.
