Gourlie, Verna (20 JUN 1888 - 15 AUG 1974)
Verna Gourlie, 86, who lived at Zephyrhills, Florida, died Thursday, August 15,
1074 at Zephyrhills, Florida. She was formerly of R. 2, Spencer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 19 at the Rink Funeral Home,
Loyal, with the Rev. Eugene Carlson officiated. Burial took place in the Loyal
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Gourlie, Lester Verhagen, Howard Verhagen, Harlow Verhagen,
Larry Verhagen, and Donald Gilbertson, all grandsons.
Rink Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The former Verna Stevens was born on June 20, 1888 in the Town of Sherman (Clark
Co., Wis.). She was married on November 9, 1904 to Walter Gourlie, who preceded
her in death May 18, 1954.
They lived on a farm in the Town of Sherman. She moved to Florida in 1967 and
was living at Zephyrhills at the time of her death.
Mrs. Gourlie is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Irene Verhagen, Rockford,
Illinois, and one son, Harlow, Zephyrhills, Florida, and one sister, Mrs. Olive
Knickel, Marinette.
