Kiefer, Raymond John (11 APR 1922 - 25 NOV 2018)
Raymond John Kiefer, age 96, of Abbotsford, passed away November 25, 2018 at
Dycora Transitional Health with his family by his side under the tender care of
Hope Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday,
December 1, 2018 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Charlie
Hiebl will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service Saturday at the church.
Raymond was born April 11, 1922 in the town of Holton to John and Ottilia
(Steger) Kiefer. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Delores
Brill on June 12, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. She preceded him
in death on May 2, 2016. Together they had 8 children and farmed in the town of
Holton until 1984.
Ray was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Raymond enjoyed dancing with
his wife, riding his bike, playing the accordion and making lawn ornaments from
wood. Ray and Delores traveled all over the world like; Hawaii, Germany,
Switzerland, Austria, and all 50 states. Ray was the treasurer of the Town of
Holton for many years, and also was a member of the Catholic Family Insurance
and building committee for St. Bernard's in 1960.
Raymond is survived by his five sons; Ronald of Colby, Larry (Cheryl) of Hawaii,
Dan (Robyn) of Abbotsford, Tom of Marion, and Mark (Krish) of Waconia, MN, and
three daughters; Rose (Ken) Solberg of Medford, Trish (Brad) Podevels of Colby,
and Michelle (Jeff) Wellsandt of Colby. He is further survived by 14
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores and two brothers,
Gilbert and Aaron.
