Thums, Henry F. (25 MAY 1936 - 23 NOV 2018)
Henry F. Thums, 76 of Rib Lake, passed away on Friday morning, November 23 at
Rib Lake Health Services where he had resided for the past 5 weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 27 at St. John’s
Lutheran Church, Rib Lake, with Rev. James Langebartels officiating. Interment
will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake. Visitation will be at St. John’s
Lutheran Church, Rib Lake from 4-7 PM on Monday, November 26 and also from 10 AM
until the time of services at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 27.
Pallbearers are David Schubert, Terry Schultz, Justin, Nicholas, Randy, Allen &
Dan Thums.
Henry was born on February 21, 1942, in the Township of Greenwood, to William
and Clara (Haider) Thums, Sr. He attended Highland Elementary School, Township
of Greenwood and was a 1960 graduate of Rib Lake High School. On February 23,
1963, he married Donna Mae Schreiner at the St. John’s Lutheran Church
parsonage, Rib Lake.
After his education, he did logging work for Baldy Haenel, Owens & Illinois and
Ron Smuggala until retiring in 2004. He also farmed in the Town of Greenwood and
did backhoe work in the area for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling
& horseshoes. Henry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Rib Lake where
he was financial secretary for many years, past member of the Rough Riders,
various bowling and horseshoe leagues.
He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Thums of Rib Lake; children Jeannine (Terry
Schultz) Thums of Weston, Randy (Dawn) Thums of Rib Lake, Allen (Melissa) Thums
of Schofield & Dan Thums of Rib Lake; two grandchildren Justin & Nicholas Thums;
siblings Willie (Diane) Thums, Jr. of Rib Lake, Dennis (Cheryl) Thums of
Rhinelander & Bruce (Donna) Thums of Dorchester; sisters – Armella Berger of
Medford, Virginia (Leon) Birch of Medford, Rosie (Jerry) Dvorak of Tomahawk,
Vickie (Roger) Oates of Rib Lake; Sisters-in-law: Vi Thums of Rib Lake & Shirley
Thums of Westboro.
He was preceded by his parents; and siblings Earl, Ed & Dale Thums; sisters –
Lucille Olson, Caroline Martinez, Clara, Lorraine & Kathleen Thums.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to
the family for a future designation.
