Rossow, Romaine F. (30 APR 1914 – 3 SEP 1974)
Romaine F. Rossow, 60, 502 W. Central, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 2:45
a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 1974 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, at 11 a.m. at Trinity
Lutheran Church, Loyal, with the Rev. Wm. Humlie officiating. Burial will take
place in the Loyal Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, after 2 p.m.
Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Romaine F. Rossow was born April 30, 1914 at Loyal, and received his education
in the Loyal schools, after which he worked as a mason for a number of years. He
was drafted into the U.S. Army on M1y 19, 1943, and served until November 14,
1945. He won the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Asiatic Pacific Theater
ribbon. After his discharge he worked as a plasterer in the Loyal area until
1964, when he purchase the Loyal Restaurant known as Russ's Café, and operated
it until 1967. He then was employed at Land O'Lakes at Spencer until 1972.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and was
presently on the City Council.
He was married on August 24, 1940 to the former Mavis Berg, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ross (Kay)
Oestreich, West Bend, and Mrs. Jerome (Sandra) Hielder, Waukegan, Illinois, and
his mother, Mrs. Clara Rossow, Loyal.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
