Scearce, Keith T. (13 JUN 1942 – 26 NOV 2018)
Keith T. Scearce, 76, rural Loyal, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, in
Stanley. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Owen
Mennonite Church with the brethren Harlan Martin, Scott Martin, John Burkholder
and Daniel Boll officiating. Burial followed in the Owen Mennonite Church
Cemetery.
Keith Thorvald Scearce was born on June 13, 1942, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of
A. O. Stanley and Martha A. (nee Hilliard) Scearce. He married Sharon R. Diller
on Oct. 19, 1963, in Johnsville, Ohio. Keith was baptized in the summer of 1958
in Sheldon.
Keith is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 55 years; fi ve sons: Ethan and Joanna
(Landis) Scearce of Sheldon, Aaron and Rebekah (Amstutz) Scearce of Gleason,
Philip and Joanne (Smith) Scearce of Thorp, Jason and Mildred (Hoover) Scearce
of Sunbury, Pa., and Peter and Deborah (Martin) Scearce of Greenwood; three
daughters: Faith and Noah Hursh of Stanley, Lydia and Jason Zimmerman of Loyal,
and Esther and David Hursh of Loyal; 57 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two
sisters: Shirley Boyer of Elkhart, Ind., and Nancy Starforth of Kansas City,
Mo.; and one half-brother: Gene Scearce of Neillsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father: Martin V. Miller; an
infant granddaughter: Jalena Hursh; one brother: Ike Scearce; two sisters: Barb
Gard and Bonnie Frances in infancy; one half-sister: Toni Vanderhoof; his
in-laws: Ralph and Esther Diller; and Miller step-siblings, including
step-sister Thelma and Mark Kaufman, who served as Christian foster parents.
