Grottke, Louis W. (3 NOV 1930 – 4 DEC 2018)



Louis W. Grottke, 88, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Wells Nature View with family at his side.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, WI. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, WI, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, located on St. Joseph’s Ave, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers are Frank Angel Jr., Paul Docauer, Dylan Brovick, Alex Brovick, Stephen Grottke, Richard Kuenstler and Howard Paulson.

Louis was born on November 3, 1930 to Fred and Lydia (Puschek) Grottke in the Town of Lynn, Wisconsin. He attended Maple Grove School and attended 2 years of parochial school at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, Wisconsin. He then partnered with his father on the family farm. Louis met Elnora Guillaume in 1958 and on July 11, 1959 they were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer WI. They were married for 59 years.

Louis was a hard worker and good provider. He farmed for almost thirty years before starting a new career at the Marshfield News-Herald, where he was employed another twenty-seven years.

Louis was a kind and loving husband and father. His children could always come to him with any problems and he would never fail to listen and give help. Louis and Elnora enjoyed taking their daughters and grandchildren camping. They also enjoyed taking sightseeing tours as a couple for many years. Louis was a man of faith. He served as an usher at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton, WI, and after moving to Marshfield, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an active member of the Marshfield Eagle’s Club for many years.
