Kobylarczyk, Pauline F. (4 MAR 1915 – 28 NOV 2018)

Pauline Florence Kobylarczyk, 103, of Thorp, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at CCH in Hudson, Wisconsin on Thursday, November 28, 2018. She will be buried in the family gravesite at St. Hedwig Cemetery.

Pauline was the fourth child of eleven born to Joseph and Julianna (nee Polnaszek) Kobylarczyk on March 4, 1915, in the family home on a small dairy farm in Thorp. Her father immigrated to the United States from Gron, Poland in the late 1890s. She deeply valued her extended family) upbringing with parents, aunts, uncles and friends.

She attended Sterling State Grade School, a two-room county schoolhouse, for eight years. She loved school and was an eager participant in the spelling bee and Psychology coursework. Her favorite teacher, Margaret Caupaul, taught penmanship classes (the Palmer Method).

At 18, she moved to Chicago. It was the depression of 1930 and jobs were scarce. However, she was able to work as a domestic until she began her career as a coil winder for Automatic Electric and Teletype. It was during the War and specially-trained positions were needed. Her years in Chicago were exciting….with
attending the 1933 Chicago World's Fair "a Century of Progress," visiting the museums and going to the many ballrooms for dancing.

She retired in 1981 and moved back to Thorp in 1987 to be near family. Pauline enjoyed gardening, sewing, braiding rag rugs, bingo, cross word puzzles, reading, corresponding with friends and family, church activities and an occasional trip to the casino.

She is a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America and a member of the PCCW of St. Bernard/St. Hedwig Church. In 2011, she moved to Hudson and enjoyed the activities of the senior living and meeting many new friends.
Pauline is survived by her sisters: Josephine Rysz and Margie Hoffman; as well as her many cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Julianna; and her siblings: Tommy, Louis, Raymond, Elizabeth, Leon Kobylarczyk, Marie Chaplinski, Louise Sorenson, and Martha Alger.
