Therese Studinski, daughter of Mrs. Florence Studinski, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.),
is home after a two month stay in Quito, Capitol of Ecuador.
Therese left July 2, 1974 to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Marco Vagras from July 3
until August 5. The father was a lawyer and her mother a Doctor. The family had
five children, five children, Juan 14, Fernando, 14, Marco Junior 15, Liliana
17, and Maria 18.
When Therese arrived it was summer vacation, so instead of going to school, she
traveled around Ecuador. The Vagras family took Therese to Panecillo, an old
Inca temple; she also climbed in a volcano and went to the equator. She visited
a very primitive tribe of Indians known as the Colorado Indians of Santo
Domingo.
The city in which she lived was so large that the pipes could supply only half
the town with water at a time. The Vagras family had water until 11:00 a.m.
The second family Therese stayed with was Mr. and Mrs. Jorge Castro. She moved
to their home on August 5. Mr. Castro owned a chain of hardware stores.
With her second family, Therese climbed Pickincha, which is one of the mountains
in the Andes chain. This family lived only four blocks from (the rest of my copy
was cut off)
