Hemmersbach, Frank (15 MAR 1889 – 04 OCT 1974)
Frank Hemmersbach, 89, a former Marshfield resident, died at 1:05 p.m. Friday at
the Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.) Memorial Nursing Home, where he had been a
resident since 1968. Mr. Hemmersbach had been in ill health for the past four
years.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic
Church, Marshfield, with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Rev. Alfred F.
Hemmersbach, a nephew of the deceased and pasto of St. Wenceslaus Catholic
Church at Eastman, officiated.
Mr. Hemmersbach was born March 15, 1885 at Cashton, Wisconsin, where he received
his education. He continued to live in Cashton until his marriage to the former
Katie Herricks on June 4, 1912, at St. Mary's Ridge. She preceded him in death
February 24, 1969.
Mr. and Mrs. Hemmersbach were engaged in farming and lived at Hoven, South
Dakota until 1920, when they returned to St. Mary's Ridge. In 1932 they moved to
Owen (Clark Co.), and after retiring in September of 1944 they resided in
Marshfield.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors include five sons, Alfons, route 1, Owen, Henry and Wilbert, both of
Waukegan, Illinois, Edmund, Morris, Illinois, and Linus, Tucson, Arizona; four
daughters, Mrs. Edward (Helen) Steffen, Waukegan, Illinois, Mrs. Martin (Angela)
Merlak, Wonder Lake, Illinois, Mrs. Norman (Frieda) Thorson, Owen, and Mrs.
Joseph (Lydia) Brown, Milwaukee; 31 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, four brothers and
four sisters.
