Neumann, Walter F. (26 SEP 1903 – 19 OCT 1974)
Walter F. Neumann, 71, of 405 LaSalle St., Spencer, was dead on arrival at St.
Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, October 19, 1974 at 12:33 a.m. Funeral services
were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, North Spencer on Monday, October 21 at
2:00 p.m., with the Rev. David J. Ault officiating. Burial was made in St.
John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Mr. Neumann was born in the Town of Brighton (Marathon Co., Wis.), September 26,
1903. He was married to the former Arvilla Oelrich on October 11, 1928 at St.
John's Lutheran Church, North Spencer. He received his education in the Town of
Brighton. He farmed in the Town of Brighton until taking over Father's Insurance
Agency in 1946, and was active until the present time, and was President of the
McMillan Insurance Company. He was director on the State Board of Wis.
Association of Town Mutual Insurance Company, and was President of District 6 of
this organization. He was active on the Brighton Town Board, Spencer Co-op Board
for 38 years, and held various positions on the Church Council. He was a member
of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Spencer.
Surviving, besides his wife are three sons, Dale Neumann, Marshfield, Rev.
Wilbur Neumann, Perryville, Missouri, Harold Neumann, Steamboat Springs,
Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Gaird (Violet) Russell, Elk Grove Village,
Illinois, and Mrs. Richard (Lorna) Krogan, Coon Rapids, Minnesota. He is also
survived by 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Maynard Neumann, Spencer, Raymond
Neumann, Spencer, and one sister, Mrs. Arhtur Beisner, Weyauwega, Wisconsin.
Three brothers and two sister preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were: Royal Neumann, Jerry Neumann, Dennis Hohlfelder, Robert Pilz,
Roger Oelrich, Lloyd Oelrich.
