On June 19, a Memory Stone was placed at the Highgrounds Veterans Memorial Park
near Neillsville, in honor of Harold Stange, a Korean War veteran who earned two
purple Hearts.
The stone was placed by his wife Jackie, son Michael McCarron and daughter,
Vicki Ganske.
They were joined by family and members of VFW Post 2227 of Colby. Stange was a
previous commander of the post. His stone was placed next to the stone for his
brother, Allen Stange, who was honored in 2017.
