A new owner could mean a new beginning for the former Copps Food Center building on Hwy 13 in Medford or at least prevent the vacant building from becoming an eyesore.

Medford Co-op Manager Chip Courtney announced Tuesday that the cooperative has signed a purchase offer for the building with the deal to be finalized in early December. Although no plans have been released as to what is being intended for the building or location, Courtney said his is excited about the possibilities.

“It is a great location,” Courtney said noting he parcel has many development opportunities. “There are a lot of options there,” he said.

Copps Food Center was closed in December 2004 and the building has sat vacant since that time.
