The Taylor county board of supervisors voted 26 to 2, Saturday to pay for a
survey of the best of the proposed county airport sites. Janko of Browning and
Brandl of Medford voting against.
The recent report of the state planning board, through M. W. Torkelson,
director, on the preliminary examination of sites by Fred Sawtelle, engineer
recommended that the area along highway 13 north of Medford be examined for a
possible site and that the two most desirable sites already examined by surveyed
thoroughly.
Five sites have been examined: 1, the present airport at the county farm; 2, two
miles east of Medford in Browning, a the Mathey tavern corner; 3, 1 ¼ miles east
of Stetsonville on A, in Deer Creek; 4, a mile north of Stetsonville on Highway
13, the section east of the Schlais tavern in Deer Creek; 5, three miles
southwest of Stetsonville, in Little black at the Galistel corners.
