Onsager, Irene May (Anderson) (14 AUG 1926 - 10 DEC 2018)

Irene May Onsager, 92, of Stetsonville, passed away at her home on December 10, 2018.

She was born on August 14, 1926 in Jump River, to Bennie and Blanche (Miller) Anderson. She was a graduate of Medford High School.

She married Norman M. Onsager on January 29, 1945, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1988. During her life she enjoyed raising her kids (for the most part), spending time with her husband, gardening, and doing needle work.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kayon) Onsager of Tacoma, WA, Bonnie Halopka of Dorchester, Carol (Paul) Jorgenson of Eagan, MN, Michael (Evelyn) Onsager of Wisconsin Rapids, Clifton (Kathy) Onsager of Louisville, KY, Melvin (Kathy) Onsager of Medford, and Pamela (Joseph) Vopravil of Hartford; sisters, Alice Miller of Tampa, FL, Evelyn Dumke of Woodstock, GA, and Lillian Mahoney of Willis, TX. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 13 step-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her 4 children, Alvin, Norris, Sue, and Patricia, 2 brothers Art, and Carl, and 2 sisters Pauline and Edith.

A memorial service for Irene will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Russow officiating; burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery I. Visitation will take place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Irene’s name may be given to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted.
