Thompson, William N. (1 FEB 1897 – 24 JAN 1973)
William N. Thompson, 75, route 1, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), died Wednesday,
January 24, 1973 at Colonial Home in Colby.
The Rev. Robert Tellock officiated at funeral services in St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Curtiss at 1 p.m. Friday, January 26, 1973. Burial was made in
Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Appleton.
The body lay in state at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen until noon last
Friday, when it was taken to the church.
Mr. Thompson was born in Illinois February 1, 1897. He married twice, and was
preceded in death by both wives. The first marriage on March 22, 1920, was to
Irene Werner, who died in July of 1954. The second marriage to Marie Spencer
took place October 21, 1961. She died November 11, 1972.
Mr. Thompson had resided in the Curtiss area the past 11 years, and previously
had lived in Appleton, where he had been a paper mill employee.
He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by a daughter, Irene Franzke, Gaylord, Michigan; two sons,
William Thompson Jr., Romeville, Illinois, and Timothy Thompson, New London,
Wisconsin; a step-son, Robert Spencer, Medford; fifteen grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Gustafson,
Tampa, Floirda.
A sister and four brothers also preceded him in death.
