Gilbert C. Rohde, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was elected to a 16th term as
president of the Wisconsin Farmers Union by unanimous vote of the directors aa
the annual convention ended a week ago Tuesday in Madison.
National F.U. President Tony Deshant was the keynote speaker at the convention.
Rohde, in his annual address, protested curtailment of agricultural programs by
the Nixon administration, and said the Farmers Union would oppose such cuts.
Among other actions, the delegates favored a shield law to protect newsmen from
having to reveal their sources and expressed concern for the preservation of the
family farm.
