Berken, Walter "Pete" (1 APR 1903 – 28 FEB 1973)
Funeral services for Walter "Pete" Berken were conducted at 11 o'clock Saturday
morning, March 3 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen.
The deceased passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, at 5:35 a.m.,
Wednesday, February 28, 1973.
The Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of the Owen Alliance Church, officiated, with
burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Walter Berken was born April 1, 1903 at Glenwood City and came to Owen (Clark
Co., Wis.) with his parents in 1906, where he received his education in the
elementary and high school systems. He spent his life working in the lumber
plants here, until he retired from the Frederick Post Company, and since that
time had been living in the Colby-Unity area for the past several years.
Survivors include a sister, Edna Boden, Corona del Mar, California.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Berken.
