Heimendinger, Josephine (25 MAY 1907 – 13 APR 1973)
Funeral services for Mrs. William (Josephine) Heimendinger were held Monday
afternoon, April 16, 1973 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burke, South
Dakota. Pastor Roger Vomhof of Burke officiated, and burial was made at the
Herrick Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rudy Hoffman, Fred Moor, Clayton Smith, Albert Tietgen, Martin
Vogt, and Orville Waterbury.
The organist was Mrs. Dan Beavers.
Mrs. Josephine Katherine Heimendinger was born May 25, 1907 at Withee (Clark
Co., Wis.), to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Matson. She was baptized on July 14, 1901
at Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee by Rev. Jensen. She was confirmed in the
Lutheran faith at the same church Palm Sunday, 1920, by Rev. J.L. Dixen.
She married William John Heimendinger on August 14, 1953 at Masson City, Iowa.
They lived in Minneapolis until 1961, when they moved to Herrick, South Dakota,
where they lived until the time of their deaths.
Mrs. Heimendinger was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran
Church at Herrick, and a member of the Ladies' Aid Society.
She entered the hospital at Gregory, South Dakota on March 28, and then was
transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 2. She
underwent open heart surgery on Friday morning, April 13. She passed away after
surgery, after having reached the age of 65 years, 10 months, and 18 days.
Her immediate survivors include one sister, Mrs. Harold (Laurina) Linett of
Tyler, Minnesota, one brother, Andrew Matson Sr. of Withee, and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, who passed away last December
9th, and by two sisters and five brothers.
Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
