Baxter, Aurel B. (15 DEC 1926 – 25 DEC 2018)
Curtiss - Aurel B. Baxter, age 92, formerly of Curtiss, passed away surrounded
by his family on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Riverside Assisted Living in
Neillsville under the tender care of hospice.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at
Curtiss Alliance Church. Pastor Carl Swarr will officiate. Interment to follow
with Military Honors provided by Lublin American Legion Post #547, Owen American
Legion Post #123 and the Owen-Withee Vets Club at Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday at
the church. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the
arrangements.
Aurel was born on December 15, 1926, the son of William and Laura (Woodward)
Baxter in Owen. He served in the U. S. Army. On June 25, 1949, Aurel was united
in marriage to Doris Anderson in Owen. She preceded him in death on December 17,
2001.
Aurel was a long time resident of Clark County. He was employed at Western
Condensing, until the name changed to Foremost McKesson for 32 years. Aurel was
a member of the Curtiss Alliance Church for many years, where he served as an
elder, board member and custodian. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and
hunting. Later in life, Aurel filled his days reading and putting jigsaw puzzles
together. Family visits were a special light in his days.
Aurel is survived by his five children: Colleen (Taree) Worden, William Baxter,
Jeffery (Mary) Baxter, Patrick (Jackie) Baxter and Nancy (Jeffery) Horn; six
grandchildren: Tamee Brown, Camee Rodenkirch, Heather Leffel, Adam Baxter, Sarah
Schirtzinger and Amanda Baxter; nine great-grandchildren: Caleb, Simon, Noelle,
Zaak, Karlee, Hunter, Carter, Lilly and Hallie. He is further survived by his
sister, Frances Reich; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers: William,
Ralph, Robert and Almond; three sisters: Mayo Fuss, Ella Liske and Jesse Brandt.
