Dr. Heineck Back in the Swing (Hip Replacement - 2013)

Dr. Roger Heineck, a retired dentist from Neillsville, is back enjoying the sunshine on the golf course during his winter trek to Arizona thanks to hip replacement surgery done by Dr. David Carlson at Memorial Medical Center (MMC) in Neillsville.
Dr. Heineck retired in 1993, and has stayed very busy with his hobbies, including golf, fishing, hunting (bear, deer and turkey), and trapshooting on a team in Loyal. Dr. Heineck recalls making 48 trips canoeing in the Quebec area of Canada.
He also enjoys gardening, as evidenced by the beautiful gardens that landscape his residence.
“I grew up in a green house,” Dr. Heineck said. “I developed a green thumb and toured gardens around the world. Since I retired, I’ve become somewhat of a recreational expert.”
In 1958, Dr. Heineck started his dental practice at the Neillsville Clinic in the downtown hotel building. After seven years at that location, Dr. Heineck built a new office on West Fifth Street, where he practiced for 30 years.
“I recall doing 150 tooth extractions in one day,” he said. “That is unheard of in this country today, because people take much better care of their teeth.”
Dr. Heineck recently underwent hip surgery. This was his first time seeing and being a patient.
