Vojtasek, Frank Joseph Sr. (20 SEP 1926 - 4 FEB 2017)
Frank Joseph Vojtasek Sr., 90, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.
Frank was born May 12, 1926, in Glenn Flora, Wis. He was the son of Joseph and
Katherine (Novak) Vojtasek. During his childhood, the family moved to Ladysmith,
Wis. On Sept. 9, 1948, Frank married Theresa Charais at Our Lady of Sorrows in
Ladysmith.
In 1952, he and his family moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and Frank worked for Safway
Steel Products. In 1956, he was transferred to Rochester to manage a
manufacturing plant for Safway Steel, which he did until retirement on Feb. 1,
1990.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rochester, where he was past
president and member of the parish council. He served multiple roles at the
church including ushering for many years. He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus for more than 60 years and had served as treasurer. Frank was also a
member of the Rochester City Council for four years and was president and member
of the Fulton County Plan Commission. He also was a past officer for Rochester
Little League baseball.
Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children's and
grandchildren's numerous events. He had an extremely strong work ethic, which he
instilled in his children and grandchildren. After retirement he often laid
brick with his good friend John Figlio. Frank learned building construction from
his father and helped to build his own home and the homes of several of his
children. On Saturday mornings, Frank was a regular visitor at the Rochester
Sale Barn. He also raised cows and gardened for many years. In his younger days,
he was an avid bowler, spent time deer hunting with his sons, and umpired for
Rochester Little League numerous years.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, of 68 years; five children,
Nicholas Vojtasek, Logansport, Michael (Niki) Vojtasek, Rochester, Dianne
(Louis) Wood, Anderson, Frank (Karen) Vojtasek Jr., Rochester, and Terri (Joe)
Bowers, Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Courtney Vojtasek, Alexandria, Va., Blake
(Sarah) Vojtasek, Indianapolis, Aimee (Stuart) Prawatt, Indianapolis, Melinda
Demos, Loveland, Ohio, Ted (Felisa) Demos, McCordsville, Olivia Vojtasek,
Wallingford, Conn., Ethan Vojtasek, Rochester, Nick (fiancé Laura) Bowers,
Indianapolis, Amy Bowers, Rochester, Mitchell (Brita) Bowers, Plymouth, and Marc
(Heather) Bowers, Mendon, Mich.; and seven great-grandchildren, Georgia
Vojtasek, Lillian, Chloe, and Natalie Prawatt, Jaxsen Demos, Cole Demos and
Titus Bowers. His brother Bill Vojtasek, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and several
nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Emily Kesan, Joe
Vojtasek, Kate King, Mary Moser and Ed Vojtasek.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at the St. Joseph
Catholic Church, 1310 Main St., Rochester. Father Michael McKinney will
officiate. Frank's family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday and from
10-10:40 a.m. Thursday at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.,
Rochester. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Rochester Youth Baseball
League, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1310 Main St., Rochester, IN 46975, or St.
Ann Catholic Church, Kewanna. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
