Christophersen, Gerhart S. "Gay" (25 JAN 1925 – 10 JAN 2019)
Withee - Gerhart "Gay" S. Christophersen, age 93, of Withee, passed away on
Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at
Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Pastor Nancy Amacher will officiate.
Internment to be held at Riverside Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from
4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home
in Owen and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
Gay was born on January 25, 1925, the son of Chris and Nora (Smith)
Christophersen in Withee. He graduated from Withee High School. On December 4,
1947, Gerhart was united in marriage to Leona Blunck. He worked at the Ford
garage in Withee, drove truck for O & N Lumber Company in Withee and worked in
food service at the Clark County Health Care Center.
Gay was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking,
four-wheeling, camping and traveling. He also was a collector of John Deere
tractors. Most importantly, Gay cherished his family.
Gay is survived by his wife of 71 years, Leona; four children: Dale (Judith)
Christophersen of Wausau, Shirley (Bruce) Brecht of Withee, Douglas (Amy)
Christophersen of Wausau and Susan (Steve) Verhasselt of Mosinee; seven
grandchildren: Bruce (Dena) Christophersen, Chris (Diane) Lulloff, Meranda
Gehrke, Kevin (Kirsty) Christophersen, Kelly (Ryan) Christophersen, Tyler
Verhasselt and Trent (Destiny) Verhasselt; 12 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Allan
(Virginia) Christophersen of Withee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Scott and Jerome and a
sister, Deborah.
