LeRoy T. Carlson, Evanston, Ill., in the process of purchasing Midway Telephone Co. common shares of capital stock at $1.3 million, has shown interest in the area by giving and Pledging substantial grants toward recreational and industrial development.

While here Saturday to meet with organization and government agency men, Carlson presented the Medford Development Foundation with a check in the amount of $25,000 to finance an in-depth study of Taylor county from the standpoint of industrial and recreational development.

He also announced he will contribute an additional $36,000 over a period of four years toward the salary of an industrial engineer whose job it will be to spend full time in bringing industry into Taylor county and the remainder of the Midway service area.
