Olson, Florence E. (13 SEP 1903 – 19 AUG 1973)
Mrs. Florence E. Olson, 69, of 1301 S. Farwell Street, Eau Claire, and a sister
of E.W. Sutter, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died Monday, August 19, 1973 at Luther
Hospital. She was born Florence Sutter on September 13, 1903, and lived in Owen
for many years, buth then moved to Eau Claire.
Mrs. Olson was a graduate of the Stevens Point Normal, taught at Marinette, and
at the 10th Ward School in Eau Claire. She was founder and first principal of
the orthopedic school, which opened in Eau Claire February 2, 1931, in the old
County Teachers Training School.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. Louis Weisbrod, New Richmond; David Olson,
Oshkosh, and Graham Olson of Marshfield; one daughter, Mrs. Daryl Larson,
Cottage Grove, Oregon, two sisters, Mrs. Lyle Montgomery, Galesville, Mrs. Marie
Utegaard, Eau Claire; one brother, Eugene Sutter, owwen, and eight
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 22, at Christ Church
Cathedral, with Rev. Dean J.W. Breisch officiating. Burial was made in Forest
Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are asked to be given to Putman Heights Achievement Center.
