Rowe, Litta Ella (Elmhorst) (25 JUN 1919 - 16 JAN 2019)
Litta Eella Rowe, age 99, of Owen passed away at her son’s home in Medford on
Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Saint John’s
Lutheran Church in Withee. Reverend Tom Myhre will officiate. Burial will be in
the Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Family and friends are welcome for visitation
from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church on Friday. The
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Litta was born on June 25, 1919 at Lynn, WI the daughter of Louis and Eleonora (Fehrman)
Elmhorst. She attended Poplar Grove Elementary School and graduated from Granton
High School in 1936. Litta attended Globe Business College in Saint Paul, MN
graduating in January 1938.
Litta married Byrl Rowe on August 21, 1938 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Granton, WI. She worked as a secretary for Owen-Withee Elementary School from
January 1965 to June 1991. After retirement from the school, Litta spent many
hours doing volunteer work at the Clark County Health Care Center and working
with Pastor Tom with the youth group.
Litta enjoyed cooking and baking and was noted for her delicious pies, her
grandchildren loved her coffee cake and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed serving the
Lions Club, working at Bethesda and quilting, but most of all spending time with
family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Litta was an avid Packer and
Brewer fan. Litta was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Withee, WI and
a lifetime member of WEA and NEA.
She is survived by her daughter; Nancy (Gary) Hobbs, Batesville, AR and three
sons; William (Janet) Rowe of Brookfield, WI, Edward (Barb) Rowe of Medford, WI
and Lawrence (Linda) Rowe of Roberts, WI. Litta is further survived by 8
grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 7 step
great-grandchildren.
Litta is preceded in death by her husband; Byrl, her parents, three sisters and
one brother.
