Nelson, Phil (1941? – OCT 1973)
Word has been received here of the death of Phil Nelson, age 82, of Superior,
who passed away last week in his home, where he suffered a heart attack.
Mr. Nelson was raised on a farm in the Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) area and moved
with his parents to Maple, Wisconsin, in Douglas County, where he later netered
politics and represented Douglas County as an assemblyman for many years.
He was then elected Lt. Governor of the State of Wisconsin, but he resigned
before he took office to accept a government position in Washington, D.C. He
remained there until his retirement a few years ago, when he and his wife
returned to Superior.
Funeral services and burial were held in Rib Lake.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Ruth, and a brother, Carl.
