Mead, Edna (6 SEP 1884 – 12 OCT 1973)
At 11 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1973, funeral services were held for Mrs. Edith
Villemonte Mead, 89, at the Gunerson Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison,
with Rev. Gomer W. Finch, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church,
officiating. Burial was made at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She passed away Friday, October 12, 1973 at Karmenta Nursing Home, where she had
been a resident this past year.
Mrs. Edith Villemonte Mad was born September 6, 1894 at Arena, Wisconsin. She
spent many of her younger years of life as a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.),
being a bookkeeper with the John S. Owen Lumber Company. After leaving Owen in
the early 1930's, she was united in marriage to the late Edward Mead on April 3,
1948. He preceded her in death, passing away December 20, 1958.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Long, Marshall, Texas, Mrs.
Veronic Kargaard, Wheaton, Illinois; a brother, William Villemonte, Kimberlin
City, Arkansas; a nephew, James Villemonte, 4200 Bagley Parkway, Madison; a
niece, Mrs. Paul Reublin, 622 Merryturn Road, Madison, and several nieces and
nephews.
