The new DDD long distance service recently initiated by the Midway Telephone
Company has been met with enthusiastic approval by subscribers, according to
Donald R. Brown, Medford general manager.
Brown said that since the inception of service on December 15, approximately 72
percent of the total long distance calls leaving the Midway service area have
been dialed direct by customers. The first three weeks of the new service has
seen 22,900 calls dialed direct while only 8,800 calls were placed by the
operator.
“This new service,” said Brown, “has been readily accepted by our customers and
is being widely used.”
