Monell, Alberta (Gronvall) (2 AUG 1925 - 23 JAN 2019)
Alberta Monell, 93, Prentice, died at her home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
She was born on August 2, 1925, in Rycroft, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of
Gustav and Marie Gronvall. She was married to George Monell on September 19,
1944, in Spirit River, Alberta, Canada.
She was a CNA and worked in nursing homes for many years, including 20 years at
the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips. She was an active member of the
Prentice Baptist Church and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and
other organizations there. For many years she was also a member of a homemakers
club. In her free time she enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, knitting and
crocheting, and also camping and fishing with George.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Kalander, Prentice, and Cathy (Mike)
Schmitt, Wausau; by seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; by one
brother, John (Lorraine) Gronvall; and by one sister, Phyllis (Dave) Zahara,
Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on November 25, 2004; and is
also preceded in death by a great grandson; by two sisters, Harriet and Edna;
and by three brothers, Art, Hamilton, and Alan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, at the Prentice Baptist
Church in Prentice with Pastor Neil Schindler officiating. Friends may call at
the church on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
