Andrew M. “Andy” Apfelbeck (30 May 1936 – 6 Dec 2002)
Andrew M. “Andy” Apfelbeck, 66, Colby, died Friday, Dec. 6 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 9 at St. Louis
Catholic Church, with Rev. James Schaefer officiating. Pallbearers were Rick
Trombly, Randy Boneske, Chad Robida, Josh Flin, Dee, Jay and Jody Apfelbeck.
Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Rowe, Kristin and Ron Apfelbeck , Jared and
Jenna Younker, Jeff, Chris, Cody and Tyler Thorson and Bruce Salzgerber. Burial
was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Maurina Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.
Andrew Apfelbeck was born May 20, 1936 in the Town of Hull, Marathon County to
the late Carl and Margaret (Ohlinger) Apfelbeck. He received his early education
at the Riverside School.
His marriage to Karen Robida, who survives, took place on April 23, 1960, at St.
Louis Catholic Church.
He worked for Johnson Silo Company and later owned and operated body shops in
Dorchester, Abbotsford and Owen, beginning in 1960. Since 1994 he owned and
operated Ten Starr Auto Body and Detail with his son, Jody.
He enjoyed camping and dancing to polka music.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Randy (Christine) of
Edgar, Jay (Fiancée Breda Haslow) of Colby and Jody (Karen) of Abbotsford; four
daughters, Crystal of Athens, Jackie (Wayne) Thorson of Marathon, Jill (Randy)
Younker and Jalaine (Jeff) Kellnhofer, both of Dorchester; six brothers, Leon of
San Mateo, Calif., Claude (Hazel), Hubert (Lavonne), both of Abbotsford, Arnold
(Evie) of Tomahawk, Ray (Marlene) of Wausau and Robert (Darlene) of Mosinee; six
sisters, Lucille Weber of Twin Lakes, Rosemary Chris and Helen (Duane) Leu, both
of Abbotsford, Pat (Roy) Boneske of Athens, Agnes (Dennis) Weber of Antioch,
Dorothy (Dave) Kramas of Delavan; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice
Trombly.
