Groups, Businesses Help Adventures on Wheels Camp

Wisconsin veterans’ groups and businesses worked together to benefit a Clark County handicapped facility.
In a cooperative effort, local veterans’ groups and businesses from across the state worked to help support and expand the services offered by the Wisconsin Adventures on Wheels (WAW) Camp on 255 acres of woodlands and fields just outside of Willard.
The mission of WAW is to provide veterans and mobility challenged disabled individuals a quality outdoor experience. The camp offers its facilities free of charge by appointment for all types of outdoor seasonal activities including hunting, camping or just relaxing in a peaceful setting.
Working together since October, veterans’ groups and businesses have been able to make improvements at the WAW Camp with donations of a handicapped shower chair, a 25 cubic-feet refrigerator/freezer unit, display tables, two cross-bows, 35 crossbow bolts, 60 hunting broadheads, crossbow scopes and accessories, wildlife food plot seed and fertilizer, dairy food products for meals, two pairs of binoculars, a 25-foot flagpole, flags and a solar light installed at the respite campground of the WAW Camp.
Veterans Cemetery Flagpole Program of Grand Mar4sh, Veterans Action Network of Dodgeville and Disabled American Veterans of Wisconsin Rapids all participated in activities to secure donations.
American Legion posts 238 of Greenwood, 175 of Loyal, Post 159 or Cadott, 118 of Thorp and 65 of Rome, and the Auxiliary Unit 118 of Thorp and SAL Squadron 65 of Rome also participated in securing donations.
Nasonville Dairy of Marshfield; Big River Sports of Adams; Fin, Feather, Fur Sportsman Group of Abbotsford; McDago’s Golf Group of Addison, IL; Quality Liquid Feeds of Dodgeville; Vortex Optics of Barneveld; FeraDyne Outdoors of Superior; Essential Deer Plots of Dodgeville; Mo’s Barb and Grill of Cottonville; and F & M Bank of Tomah all assisted in donations.
