Peter John Goessl (2 May 1940 – 25 Jul 1997)

Peter John Goessl, 57, Curtiss, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Visitation and a Rosary service were held at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester with Rev. James Schaefer officiating.

Burial was held in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dick, Norbert, Glenn, Dan, Steve, and Jack Goessl.

Peter John Goessl was born May 2, 1940, in the Town of Hoard, rural Curtiss, to Irving and Theresa (Decker) Goessl. He attended Brady School, St. Louis Catholic School and Dorchester High School. His marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Danen took place on July 29, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville.

He was employed with Medford Motors until 1960 and then worked as a mechanic with Mertens Garage in Dorchester until 1965. From 1965 to 1982, he installed milking equipment with the former Bowen Hardware in Curtiss. He and his wife also farmed in the Town of Hoard from 1980 until 1994 when he retired due to ill health. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobile racing.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; two sons, Donald of Marshfield and James (Teresa) Goessl of Owen; six daughters, Karen Goessl, Wendy (John) Miller and Vickie (Dean) Tomczak, all of Curtiss, Annette Goessl of Dorchester, Lisa (Lawrence) White of Beloit, and Karleen (Dan) Bakke of Owen; two brothers, Orlando (Helen) of Stetsonville and Theodore (Donna) Goessl of Marshfield; three sisters, Mercedes (John) Kapfhamer of Stetsonville, Marcella Deeter of Benson, Ariz., and Sister Celine Goessl of Bellaire, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Jean Goessl of Dorchester and Florence Goessl of Stetsonville; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carl in 1996; two sisters, Patricia and Ethel; and two brothers, Clarence and Herbert.
