Mark K. Marcott (04 Apr 1949 – 30 Sept 2000)
Former Medford resident Mark K. Marcott, 51, Eagle River, Alaska, died Saturday, Sept 30. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct 7 at St. Andrews Church in Eagle River.
Mark Marcott was born April 4, 1949, at Medford to Kenneth and Evelyn Marcott. He was a graduate of Colby High School and earned his Associates Degree in electronics from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.
He entered the Navy in 1970 and became a Senior Petty Officer. He was the SSO at NSGA Pensacola, Fla., from 1978 to 1981 and was assigned to the BUPERS as a cryptologic detailer in 1982. In 1985 he transferred to Alaska. He became the administrative department head and Command Senior Chief for NSGA Anchorage in 1986 until his retirement on December 31, 1990.
He accepted the special events director’s position at the Anchorage Armed Services YMCA in December 1991. He supported programs there including “Summer Camp,” “Y on Rails,” ship visits and “Host a Sailor”. He was also a supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to his parents,
survivors include his wife, Gerrie, Eagle River; two daughters, Stacy Marcott
(Greg McKnight), Huntingtown, MD, and Shari (Bobby) Herrera, Albuquerque, N.M.;
three brothers, Gary and David, both of Wisconsin, and Tom, Texas; and two
granddaughters.
