Lynn B. Nelson (5 Nov 1922 – 25 Dec 2006)
Lynn B. Nelson, 84, Medford, died Monday, Dec. 25 at his home while under hospice care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at The United Church Of Christ, Medford, with Lay Minister Mary Jo Laabs officiating. Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II with graveside military rites performed by Medford VFW funeral honors team. Pallbearers will be his sons, Paul, Bruce, Craig, David, James and Brian Nelson.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Lynn Nelson was born November 5, 1922 in the Town of Holway to the late Carl and Estella (Bruce) Nelson. He attended Town of Holway elementary schools and was a 1940 graduate of Medford High School.
On August 31, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., he married Margaret Stock, who survives. He was a United Stated Marine veteran of World War II. After the service he returned to the area and worked for the Taylor County Highway Department, then worked as an operating engineer in road construction for 30 years until his retirement.
He was a member of The United Church of Christ and Local 139 Operator Engineering Union. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking reading and stained-glass work.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Linda (Mark) Deml of Medford; six sons, Paul (Judith) of Wisconsin Rapids, Bruce of Milwaukee, Craig (Phuong) of California, David (Barbara) of Kentucky, and James (Karen) and Brian (Shelley), both of Medford; three brothers, Lee H. of Wausau, Harvey of Arkansas and Carl J. (Janet) of the Town of Grover; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman, and a sister, Evelyn Nelson.
The family requests memorials be given to Hope Hospice or The United Church Of Christ.
