 Regina Catherine Werner (25 Dec 1910 – 12 Feb 2003)

Regina Catherine Werner, 92, Dorchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.  Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 15 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with Rev. James Schaefer officiating.  Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

The former Regina Sauer was born December 25, 1910, in Medford to the late Michael and Catherine (Henrichs) Sauer.  She attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and was a 1928 graduate of Medford High School.  She worked for Lord’s Department Store in Evanston, Ill., following graduation.

Her marriage to Edward Werner, who preceded her in death in 1991, took place October 15, 1938 at St Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester.  After marriage, she assisted her husband with the operation of Clover Farm Store until 1950.  They farmed in the Town of Mayville, Clark County, until his death.  She resided with a daughter in Marshfield and later returned to reside in Dorchester.

She was past-president and secretary of the Ladies Rosary Society, past-president of Home and School of St. Louis, secretary and treasurer for Catholic Family Life Insurance, chair of the Eye Bank, trustee and president for the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters, chair for Dorchester Days stunt night for the senior citizens skits.  She was a member of the Dorchester Senior Citizens Club and organized bus tours.  She volunteered at St. Louis School.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph (Carol) of Rothschild, Phillip (Karen) of Wausau and Gerald (Chris) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Sister Jo Ann of Marshfield; two brothers, Joseph of Medford and Herbert (Donna) of Colby; two sisters, Francis (Alvin) Guth of Rice Lake and Jeanette (Richard) Miller of Medford; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; three brothers, Leo, Felix and Alvin; and two sisters, Margaret Persteiner and Dolores Dzik.

 A memorial in her name will be established.
