Reinhold William Schaefer (2 Aug 1907 - 13 Apr 1999)

Reinhold William Schaefer, 91, Abbotsford, died on April 13, 1999, at the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford.

Funeral services were held April 16 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford with Rev. John Malik presiding.  Burial was in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Grandsons served as pallbearers – Mark Rueden, David Stettler, Kevin Stettler, Randy Pupp, Dan Pupp and Brian Pupp. 

Reinhold Schaefer was born on Aug. 2, 1907, in the Town of Holton, Marathon County, the son of Max and Bertha (Lueddecke) Schaefer.  He received his early education at the Draper School.

On Dec. 15, 1928, Reinhold and Elizabeth Baronsky were united in marriage at the Church of Jesu in Milwaukee.  In 1929 they purchased the Baronsky homestead in the Town of Holton, where they farmed until 1961.  They moved to a smaller farm and Reinhold was employed at Packaging Corporation of America in Colby for 11 years, retiring in 1972.

He served on the school board of the Wright School for many years.  He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and a former member of senior citizen clubs in Dorchester and Abbotsford.

Reinhold enjoyed music and dancing, playing cards, gardening, and fishing throughout the years.  His family was always very important to him and he was proud of being a farmer, an occupation that he loved.

He is survived by his three daughters, Elaine (George) Rueden of Spencer, Adelle (Lawrence) Stettler, of Abbotsford, Sharon (John) Pupp of Abbotsford; one son, Kenneth (Bette) Schaefer of Almond; 15 grandchildren.  23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth of 65 years on Sept. 3, 1994; three sisters, and three brothers.
