Orlando F. Goessl (14 Jan 1915 – 25 May 2002)
Orlando F. Goessl, 87, Stetsonville, died Saturday, May 25 at his home under the
care of family and hospice.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in
Medford, with Rev. Dennis Meulemans officiating. A prayer service was held the
prior evening at Hemer Funeral Home, conducted by Sister Celine Goessl. Burial
took place in Stetsonville Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandchildren Joe Strebig, Mark, Dave, Tom, Cody and Sara
Goessl.
Orlando F. “Ole” Goessl was born January 14, 1915 at Clark County to the late
Irving and Mary (Stoiber) Goessl. He attended Brady Elementary School in Clark
County.
His marriage to Helen Kapfhamer, who survives, took place April 15, 1937 at Holy
Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. He farmed in the Town of Holway for many
years. He also drove school bus for Krug Bus Service and drove gravel truck in
the area while farming. In retirement, he drove for Comfort Carriers of Medford.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville and Catholic
Order of Foresters.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Judy (Bill) Strebig of
Mosinee; and eight sons, Robert (Mary), Thomas, David (Anna), Glen (Sue), Steve,
John “Jack” (Linda), Bruce, and Donald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepmother Teresa Decker, two
sisters, Pat Kuranda and Ethel Gutenberger; three brothers, Franky, Clarence and
Peter; two sons, Donald in 1960 and Bruce in 1953; and two grandchildren, Shelly
in 1997 and Scott in 1972.
The family requests memorials to either Holy Rosary School Building Fund or Hope
Hospice of Rib Lake.
