Clarence Frank Block (14 Feb 1922 - 18 Jun 1997)
Clarence Frank Block, 75, died on June 18, 1997, in the emergency room of St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Services were held June 20 at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford, with Mr.
Ken Solberg presiding.
Inurnment will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Clarence Block was born on Feb. 14, 1922, in the town of Maine, Marathon County,
the son of William and Gussie (Hoehn) Block. Clarence and Ione Paff were united
in marriage on April 26, 1941, in Dorchester and had celebrated 56 years of
marriage. They farmed in town of Holton, rural Dorchester, for many years and in
1982 moved to the village of Dorchester. While farming, Clarence also was
employed with Gabes Construction and later Michels Pipeline Construction. He
enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing horseshoe, but he especially loved working
in the woods.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Ione Block of Dorchester; nine sons: Leonard
(Carol) Block of Abbotsford; Russell (Barb) Block of Mosinee; Neal (Bonnie)
Block of Dorchester; Larry (Sandy) Block of Edgar; Warren (Vera) Block of
Stetsonville; Dale (Pat) Block of Unity; David (Ellie) Block of Dorchester;
Ricky (Karen) Block of Medford and Jerry (Debbie) Block of Medford; six
daughters: Nancy (Lee) Noland of Tomahawk; Kathleen (Jerry) Tischendorf of
Dorchester; Darlene Barton of Stetsonville; Sandra (Jake) Drager of
Stetsonville; Teri (Mark) Barnett of Eagle River and Judy (Jeff) Woller of
Merrill; two brothers, Elroy (Gloria) Block of Merrill and Gene (Donna) Block of
Merrill; one sister, Betty (Maynard) Neubauer of Medford; 41 grandchildren, and
25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Joshua Block.
