Martha I. Peissig (31 Dec 1911 - 25 Aug 1997)
Martha Ida Peissig, 85, formerly of Owen, died Monday, Aug. 25, at the Scandia
Village Nursing Home in Sister Bay. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on
Thursday, Aug. 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen with Rev. Al
Jakubowski officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
Visitation at the church will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services on
Thursday.
The former Martha Boxrucker was born December 31, 1911, in the Town of Little
Black to Anton and Ella (Wolf) Boxrucker. She married William Peissig and he
died February 3, 1957.
She resided in Owen since 1953 and was employed at the former Havenet Nursing
Home there for 15 years. She moved to Sister Bay six years ago.
Survivors include one son, Duane “Duke” (Elizabeth) Peissig of Sister Bay; one
daughter, Diane (Roy) Elquist of Sister Bay; one sister, Alice Brock of
Louisville, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by
one son, Dale; two daughters, Louella in infancy and Barbara Rassmusen; two
brothers, Albert and Walter Boxrucker; and three sisters, Marie Decker, Hattie
Hennlich and Selma Gilbertson.
