Nicholson, Ella M. (5 JUL 1891 – 29 Nov 1973)

Services were held Saturday, December 1, 1973 at 2:30 p.m. from the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, for Mrs. Ella M. Nicholson, 82, formerly of route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at 4:50 a.m. Thursday at the Bethel Home in Viroqua.

The Rev. Douglas R. Groenewald, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee, officiated, and burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.

The former Ella Pokel was born on July 5, 1891, in Plymouth, and was married January 22, 1905 to John William Nicholson, who preceded her in death February 20, 1963. She had operated a farm in the town of Longwood (Clark Co.) prior to entering the nursing home.

Survivors include five sons, Lawrence, Arlington Heights, Illinois; Charles, Belleville; Ralph, Lafayette, Indiana; Allen, Millington, Tennessee, and Buford, Eau Claire; four daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Caroline) Adams, Readstown; Mrs. Ella Newman, Marshfield; Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Weber, Greenwood, and Mrs. Donald (Vivian) Scott, Clarks Hill, Indiana; two sisters, Miss Nelda Poke, Watsonville, California, and Mrs. Alice Moreau, Seattle; a brother, Edward Pokel, Chicago; 38 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, two brothers, and a sister.
