Neillsville Native Receives Honor (Steiger & Calkins- 2019)

The Chippewa Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America awarded two scouters, including Neillsville Native Keith Steiger (left), the Order of the Arrow Founder’s Award. Steiger was presented the award for his 50 years of service to Camp Phillips, which is near Haugen. Steiger was a member of Pack 43 and Troop 64 in Neillsville. The awards were given at the council’s annual winter banquet at Camp Phillips. Also receiving the award was Kodiak Calkins (right) of Troop 45 in Ladysmith. The Order of the Arrow is the National Honor Society for older scouts, according to a Boy Scouts press release. It is meant to recognize scouts and scouters who “best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.” (Photo submitted)
