Captain Michelle Curran, a 2005 graduate of Medford Area Senior High School, has
been selected to serve a two-year stint as a member of the elite US Air Force
Air Demonstration Squadron, also known as the Thunderbirds.
The unit tours the United States and much of the world to represent the pride,
professionalism and dedication of hundreds of thousands of Air Force personnel.
Curran is only the fifth female and only the second female solo pilot in the
Thunderbirds’ 65 year history. The team’s two solo pilots perform maneuvers that
display the maximum capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
Curran is the daughter of Bill and Ronetta Curran of Medford, and granddaughter
of Helen and the late Ronald Roth and the late Ione and Clifford Curran, all of
Medford.
