Curtiss Corners Quilters to Hold 27th Annual Show (Quilt Show - 2014)
The Curtiss Corners Quilters from all of Clark County as well as some of the
neighboring counties meet the third Monday of every month except August and
December. Meetings are held at the Curtiss Community Hall. (Contributed photo)
Plan to join the Curtiss Corners Quilters at the Curtiss Community Hall
Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as they showcase
many beautiful quilts.
The theme for the 27th Annual Quilt Show is “Sewing in a Cabin.” The theme was
chosen because members participated in a class on how to make log cabin blocks.
Decorations will also be themed to things one might find in a cabin. In
addition, members’ challenge quilts will be displayed. Quilts made by member
Clare Sandel, who recently passed away, will also be on display.
In addition to the crafts members made that will be available for sale, Quilts
Kits & Beyond, Bolts of Fun and Brubaker’s will be on hand with a variety of
items for quilters. There will also be a basket raffle and door prize drawings.
And don’t forget to stop in the kitchen for lunch along with delicious pies and
bars.
Raffle tickets will be available for a Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt that
was stitched and quilted by members. The proceeds from the raffle will be
donated to Clark County food pantries.
This year’s community project has been to collect donations for the Hannah
Center in Marshfield. It assists women in life crisis. To help by contributing,
there is a list of needed items at www.hannahcenter.com/wish_list.php. The
quilters will be happy to add donations.
The following demonstrations will be held for those interested in learning about
new tools and techniques:
Saturday – 11 a.m. – Double Diamond Ruler; 12 noon – Disappearing Four Patch; 1
p.m. Arm Knitting; 2 p.m. – Sandy’s Fun Apron.
Sunday – 11 a.m. – Make & Take T-shirt Scarves (Bring old T-shirt and sharp
scissors); 12 noon – New & Exciting Rulers; 1 p.m. - Disappearing Pinwheel; 2
p.m. – Snap Purse.
The Curtiss Corners Quilt Club members come from around Clark County and even
across the borders into Taylor and Wood counties. Meetings are held the third
Monday of each month, except August, and December, at the Curtiss Community Hall
at 6:45 p.m. They welcome new members at any time, but in the meantime invite
anyone interested in quilting to join them at the Quilt Show. For more
