Mercier, Marian (27 JAN 1902 – 18 JAN 1974)
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 1974 in Holy Family
Catholic Church, Stanley, for Mrs. Edward (Marian) Mercier, 71, of 307 Spence
Street, Colby (Clark Co., Wis.), who died Friday evening, January 18, 1974 at
the Colonial House of Colby following a lingering illness.
Officiating at the rites was the Rev. Francis Roshman, with burial in St.
Joseph's Cemetery in Boyd.
The deceased lay in state in the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley from 2 p.m.
January 21 until time of services. A parish vigil was held at the funeral home
Monday night.
The former Marian C. Cox was born in Huron on January 27, 1902. Her marriage on
May 28, 1924 at Royalton, Minnesota, was to Edward H. Mercier, who survives her.
After their marriage they lived and farmed in the town of Colburn (Chippewa Co.,
Wis.) until 1947, when they moved to Withee (Clark Co.). They moved to Colby in
1967.
In addition to her husband, survivors include five sons, Albert J. and Peter
Mercier, both of Colby; Richard H. Mercier, Hales Corners; Edwin P. Mercier,
Milwaukee, and David Mercier, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; five daughters, Mrs. Oscar
(Adeline) Garton, Rockford, Illinois; Mrs. Emil (Patricia) Rasmussen, Waupun;
Mrs. Floyd (Elizabeth) Hanson, Withee; Mrs. Leonard J. (Ruth Ann) Belleau,
Mukwonago, and Mrs. Glen (Agnes Jean) Gruber, Roseville, Minnesota; two
brothers, Robert Cox, Stanley, and James Cox, Stockton, California; five
sisters, Mrs. Jake (Kathleen) Guckenberg, Cloquet, Minnesota; Mrs. C.B. (Imogen)
Hollandsworth, Proctor, Minnesota; Mrs. Margery Wentworth, Glendale, California;
Mrs. E.H. (Irene) McCulloch, Van Nuys, California, and Mrs. George (Gladys)
Bottiger, Silver Spring, Maryland; 42 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two daughters, a son, and a sister.
